Radiesse is different than other facial fillers. It adds volume immediately, while stimulating natural collagen production for long-lasting results. In Dr. Kim’s private clinic in Portland, Oregon, he performs Radiesse treatments in order to fight the signs of aging and volume loss.
What Is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a filler designed to plump the skin and add volume to volume-deficient areas. It is injected under the skin using a small needle or blunt cannula, after which it immediately works to add volume. Over time, the anti-aging benefits continue as Radiesse stimulates natural collagen growth.
What is the Radiesse Treatment Experience?
Radiesse treatment is performed as a simple outpatient procedure. Depending on the extent of treatment, injections may take up to 15 minutes to perform.
Dr. Kim marks the injection sites, after which a topical anesthetic and an antiseptic are applied. Then, he injects Radiesse beneath the skin to treat facial wrinkles and folds.
You can expect to experience slight swelling, which typically subsides in one or two days. Applying cold compresses to the treatment areas can help reduce swelling.
Most patients can resume their normal activities shortly after treatment, after resting for a few hours. However, it is important to minimize activities that involve excessive or dramatic movement of the facial muscles, such as:
Drinking through a straw
Eating chewy foods
What Is Radiesse Made Of?
Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel. When injected under the skin, it provides volume immediately to correct wrinkles and folds, while at the same time the microspheres stimulate the body to produce more collagen. Over time, the body absorbs the gel and metabolizes the microspheres, leaving only natural collagen behind.
How Many Radiesse Treatments Will I need?
The amount of Radiesse required per treatment varies and is determined by the patient’s pretreatment volume deficiency and their goal correction. In most cases,Radiesse will last for approximately one year, after which time you may need additional treatments. This long-lasting treatment produces soft, smooth, skin that is natural to the touch.
