What Is Restylane?

Restylane is a popular line of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in Portland. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that attracts moisture and adds volume. Each type of Restylane injectable filler is designed for a specific purpose.

This facial filler is used to augment the lips and to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is also Dr. Kim’s filler of choice for nonsurgical rhinoplasty and tear-trough correction.

Restylane Silk

Silk is the first product approved by the FDA that has been specifically designed to add subtle volume to the lips and smooth vertical lines around the mouth. Restylane Silk is smoother and composed of smaller particles than the other Restylane products, for softer, more precise results.

Restylane Lyft

Lyft is the first and only hyaluronic acid dermal filler approved by the FDA to treat the hands and the face. It is designed to:

  • Restore volume in the backs of the hands
  • Augment the cheeks
  • Correct midface contour deficiencies related to aging
  • Treat moderate to severe facial folds, including smile lines around the mouth

Restylane Refyne and Defyne

Both of these products are designed to smooth the lines around the nose and mouth – nasolabial folds (from the nose to the mouth corners) and marionette lines (running from the mouth corners along the sides of the chin), while maintaining the flexibility and range of motion needed for natural-looking movement and facial expressions.

Is There Any Downtime with Restylane?

You will not be able to drive until you are no longer taking prescription pain medication. It is important when driving that you have clear vision, so swelling around the eyes must be minimal enough to not cause visual obstruction. If you wear glasses, you may save and use your plastic splint as a buffer between the glasses and the skin for protection.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

I hope this update finds all of you safe and healthy. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are limiting appointments to those that are necessary only (lacerations or emergencies that do not require a visit to the ER, immediate post-operative patients, etc.). We are still answering calls and email inquiries, so feel free to reach out with any questions or urgent requests. We are also offering virtual consultations via FaceTime or Skype to get your process started until we can see you preoperatively. Although these are difficult decisions, we feel this is important for the good of our community, our patients and their families. If you are currently scheduled to come into the office in the next few weeks, our Patient Care Specialist will be in touch with you regarding the status of your appointment or surgery.

This is an incredibly fluid and evolving situation, but we will return to our normal operations when it is safe to do so. We really appreciate your patience. Just remember that we are all in this together and that we will get through this.

Dr. Kim
