What Is Ear Surgery?

Technically known as otoplasty, ear surgery is performed to create a more natural and pleasing shape while bringing balance and proportion to the face and ears.

What Is Ear Surgery Recovery Like?

Most patients can expect to return to work and light activities at approximately one week after their otoplasty in Portland.

Plan to have someone with you for at least the first 24 hours after surgery. Rest frequently during the first week of recovery but move around occasionally to increase circulation and promote healing. Keep your head elevated to help minimize swelling and discomfort. Do not rest your head on your ear.

You may also have a temporary wrap around the ears followed by the nightly wearing of a loose fitting sports headband to prevent excess pressure and stress on the operative site during the critical healing period.
